Verification of multi-layered assignment problems

چکیده

The class of assignment problems is a fundamental and well-studied in the intersection Social Choice, Computational Economics Discrete Allocation. In general problem, group agents expresses preferences over set items, task to allocate items an “optimal” way. A verification variant this problem includes allocation as part input, question becomes whether “optimal”. paper, we generalize setting where each agent equipped with multiple incomplete preference lists: Each list (called layer) ranking possibly different way according criterion. particular, introduce three multi-layer problems, corresponds optimality notion that weakens global (that is, pareto layers) Informally, first requires that, for whose size exactly some input parameter k, will not be able trade their assigned among themselves benefit at least $$\alpha $$ layers; second similar, but it concerns all groups most k rather than k; third strengthens these notions by requiring larger layers. We study from perspective parameterized complexity under several natural parameterizations such number layers, agents, allocated maximum length list, more. present almost comprehensive picture respect parameters.

Multi-dimensional vector assignment problems

We consider a special class of axial multi-dimensional assignment problems called multidimensional vector assignment (MVA) problems. An instance of the MVA problem is defined by m disjoint sets, each of which contains the same number n of p-dimensional vectors with nonnegative integral components, and a cost function defined on vectors. The cost of an m-tuple of vectors is defined as the cost o...

Average case performance of heuristics for multi-dimensional assignment problems

We consider multi-dimensional assignment problems in a probabilistic setting. Our main results are: (i) A new efficient algorithm for the 3-dimensional planar problem, based on enumerating and selecting from a set of “alternating-path trees”; (ii) A new efficient matching-based algorithm for the 3-dimensional axial problem.

Chapter 1 MULTI INDEX ASSIGNMENT PROBLEMS : COMPLEXITY , APPROXIMATION , APPLICATIONS

This chapter deals with approximation algorithms for and applications of multi index assignment problems (MIAPs). MIAPs and relatives of it have a relatively long history both in applications as well as in theoretical results, starting at least in the fifties (see e.g. Motzkin, 1952, Schell, 1955 and Koopmans and Beckmann, 1957). Here we intend to give the reader i) an idea of the range and div...

Approximation Algorithms for Multi-Dimensional Assignment Problems with Decomposable Costs

The k-dimensional assignment problem with decomposable costs is formulated as follows. Given is a complete k-partite graph G = (X0 u ... u X,_ I, E), with lXil = p for each i, and a nonnegative length function defined on the edges of G. A clique of G is a subset of vertices meeting each Xi in exactly one vertex. The cost of a clique is a function of the lengths of the edges induced by the cliqu...
